Our mission

Our aim is to increase sustainability and quality by recoating and repairing your cookware.

STUDY OF THE CYCLES

Our history

Sustainability starts in the mind and often ends in the kitchen. During my fall break in 2020, I attended the “Innosuisse Business Concepts” course while I was still training to become an environmental engineer. There I learned that frighteningly large quantities of old frying pans are thrown away unnecessarily and scrapped with a lot of energy. An initial business model was sketched out. After several iterations of prototypes, collections in kitchens and at disposal yards, the first series of newly coated pans was offered for pre-sale in spring 2022. With success! Customer feedback on the idea and the quality of the coating was overwhelming. Since then, RePan has been committed to recoating frying pans, true to the motto: “It doesn’t have to be like this”.

Dominic S. Müller

ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ENGINEER

As a passionate rosti chef and now young entrepreneur, you need good pans. Dominic has learned to look at resources in large systems, including the pan in everyone’s kitchen. With RePan, what they have learned is now being put into practice: “The principle of the circular economy can be applied to so many things, for the quality of the product, in life and for the environment.”

Basically everything – no matter how bad the pan, the Rational tray or the raclette grill looks.

All manufacturers, shapes or materials – can be recoated by us

However, flammable handles or parts must be removable. In the case of waffle irons or tippers, please send the parts already disassembled.

We have two methods:

Newly coated pans from stock are delivered faster and you can save yourself the trouble of searching for a box. We have hundreds of different models – you are sure to find something here: RePan.ch/Shop

Is your grandmother’s pan sacred?

Or do you have a lot of pans?

Re-coating your kitchen utensils – no matter what, what brand or size. Order collection & receive it back with an invoice. Alternatively, we can send you a reusable box or you can bring or send in the material yourself. This service takes up to 6 weeks due to a lot of high-tech and manual work.

Both are even better ! We first send the pan from stock in a reusable box – perfect for sending in your pans for recoating afterwards. Add a new coating AND a pan from stock.

We have permanent collection points for the catering trade:

  1. Order a prepaid returnable box
  2. Scan the QR code on the inside of the lid and book a collection by Swiss Post
  3. Receive the restored material including invoice, delivery bill & collection box – this creates order and simplifies the follow-up order: QR scan and you’re done! We already have your details.

Processing time up to 6 weeks – it is best to send in in stages or save a set so that you can continue cooking in the meantime

Yes! The induction capability is determined by the metals contained in the base of the pan, not by the coating. A little tip: hold a magnet to the underside of the pan: if it holds well, the pan is induction-compatible – know how!

No matter what pan manufacturers say, a hand-washed coated pan will always last longer. The reason for this is the highly alkaline environment in the dishwasher, which can even deform the metal. But even once the pan goes into the machine, the world doesn’t come to an end. It is important that no metal touches the inside, which can lead to damage.

We even offer a one-year guarantee on the new coating, although wear and tear is very much dependent on use. If there should be any defects during production, please contact us.

Our coating is normally only found in the high-price and catering segment, which is why our coating is often even better than the original. PFOA-, AEPO-, GenX- and BPA-free. The triple ceramic-reinforced non-stick coating that lasts extra long:

1. primer for good hold
2. Hardening middle layer made of ceramic
3. Non-stick coating with the material PTFE (also known as “Teflon”) (And no, Teflon is not non-toxic – read more

Pans have a slightly different coating to baking trays, for example, in terms of composition. This means we can easily adapt the coating to suit the application.

Prof. Dr. Thomas Vilgis, physicist at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research in Mainz, explains:

Even if scraped-off crumbs get into the food and are swallowed, this is not a problem. They do not react in the body and are simply excreted again. In the past, problematic emulsifiers were used to bond the PTFE with the metal. These substances, such as PFOA, are among the “eternal chemicals”, are carcinogenic and are difficult to break down in the environment. They are now banned. ” Salt & pepper, Dec. 2024

Yes, with pleasure! Please write “RePan Donation” (instead of RePan Service) on the package or the individual pans.

We will refurbish it and give it a new life in another kitchen. However, you will still have to pay the postage yourself, but you will save yourself a trip to the waste disposal yard.

Tip: If you order a pan yourself, you can select “Shipping with returns”. We will then send the pan in a returnable box with a postal label for returning.
